The math department offers the following courses:  Math 7, Math 8 and Compacted Math.  Students in Math 7 will perform and apply operations of rational numbers in contextual problems, compare various forms of display data, solve and graph one and two step linear equations while deepening their understanding of slope, and compute the perimeter, area, surface area and volume of regular and irregular two and three dimensional shapes.

Students in Math 8 will extend and deepen their understanding of operations of rational numbers in contextual problems and compare various forms of display data. They will apply their knowledge of algebraic concepts in order to solve and graph one and two step linear equations while deepening their understanding of slope as well as multiple representations of linear relationships. They will compute the perimeter, area, surface area and volume of regular and irregular two and three dimensional shapes.
Students in Compacted Math will apply their knowledge of rational numbers to perform operations on variable, polynomial, and rational expressions. They will also use various methods to solve linear and quadratic equations, as well as systems of equations.  They will apply their knowledge of algebra in order to solve contextual problems involving rate, work, mixture and force and gravity.
In all courses, students will formulate and justify mathematical conjectures and apply their critical thinking skills in order to solve of a variety of contextual problems using.
