ASB
The ASB officers at Southwest Middle School consist of four students and 46 commissioners from different grade levels that have been elected by their peers and teachers to make Southwest Middle School a great place to be. We try to affect students at the social and emotional level and have a little fun while we are at it. For the officers, ASB is a place to learn how to create the most effective leadership team. We focus on teaching students how to improve communication skills, human and group relations, carrying out responsibilities, and self-awareness. In turn, what the ASB does for Southwest Middle School is as follows:
- Create a connection between Southwest Middle and our community with fundraisers like the Money drive to help Haiti.
- Plan and carry out assemblies.
- Plan and execute spirit days to create a supportive environment for extracurricular activities.
- Plan and execute events for Southwest Middle, such as “El Grito”, activity days, academic celebrations, etc.
