Lambda Theta Nu Sorority, Incorporated would like to cordially invite you to our 15th annual Latina Youth Leadership Conference which will be held at the University of California, San Diego on Saturday, April 15th, 2017. This conference is designed to develop leadership skills, enhance self-esteem, and instill cultural pride, all while heightening awareness of the attainability of higher education.
The conference will target first generation junior high and high school young ladies to ensure they understand the importance of taking college preparatory classes in high school and academic achievement for college acceptance. The conference will take place from 8:00am to 3:00pm and consists of a variety of workshops. Breakfast and lunch will be provided, however transportation will not.
Lambda Theta Nu, Sorority Inc., founded in 1986, is a Latina Sorority based on ideals of community service, academic excellence and sisterhood. Members represent a diverse group of women of different backgrounds, fields of study, and professional arenas. United by determination, strength, and honor, the sorority celebrates the richness of Latino culture, fosters academic achievement, and serves the Latino community through various ways.
The establishment of this conference was influenced by a report from the American Association of University of Women, where Latinas were shown to be the group most likely to drop out of high school. By helping students familiarize themselves with the college environment, application process, prerequisites, and financial aid opportunities, the conference is designed to motivate and to help young ladies set firm, clear, and realistic educational goals.
Please register or RSVP any students by Friday March 17th using the link below. Please have students fill out the permission slip and bring them the day of the conference. The sorority will not be providing transportation.
